Fir Wood Boxes
Kathryn’s first fully handmade boxes, made in her workshop in BC from all Canadian materials. Choose between Small and Medium in the Repurpose Series, and Medium and Extra Large in the Northern Waters series.
Compare Box Sizes
Kathryn designed four sizes of fir wood boxes; small, medium, large and extra large.
The Small square box measures approximately 3.5” square, and 3.5” high on the outside dimensions. It’s designed for salt, but can also hold sweetner packets, paper clips or sugar cubes. It can hold 5 standard sized essential oil bottles, or holds approximately 1 cup of dry material.
The Medium square box is 4.5” square and 3.5” high, just tall enough to hold most essential oil bottles or standard spools of thread. It’s also useful for Q tips, band aids, desk items or sugar cubes. It can hold about 10 standard sized essential oil bottles, or approximately 2 cups of dry material.
The Large square box is the same height as the small and medium, but it can hold a lot more because it is 5.5” square and 3.5” high. It’s useful for coffee beans, though it can’t quite hold a full standard bag. It can hold approximately 16-17 standard essential oil bottles, or about 3 cups of dry material.
The Extra Large square box is sized to hold a standard bag of coffee beans. It measures 5.5” square and 6” high and has an inset lid that is fitted but not airtight.
Sized to hold Essential Oils
The Extra Large size holds a full bag of coffee beans
Box Finishes
There are now two finish choices for Kathryn’s handmade boxes, Driftwood (a light grey) and Dark Forest (a medium to dark warm brown) There is a lot of natural variation in the grain and colour of the fir wood, which makes each box unique.
Cleaning and Care Instructions
Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Box lids with a resin surface can be cleaned with glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. For boxes with a non-resin gloss finish, use mild soap and water only. It’s ok to briefly rinse your box under the tap and dry it immediately, but don’t immerse it in water or store it outdoors. Scuffs in the wood can be touched up with mineral oil.
