About this Painting

Title - "Egg Shell Hummingbird "

This listing is for the original painting, made with hand-dyed chicken egg shells, tiled into a mosaic on a cradled birch canvas board and sealed to a smooth finish. This one of a kind piece measures 16" x 20" with 1.5” canvas board depth. You can also shop prints of this image here.

This mosaic is signed on the edge by the artist, and on the back with the artist’s custom aspen leaf stamp. The wood edges are painted black, and hanging hardware is attached, so you can hang it without a frame. This piece is unframed, but you can contact us after purchase for framing options.

The mosaic will be shipped in kraft paper wrapping, with a ribbon and protective cushioning.

About this Species

Anna’s Hummingbird

The bird that laughs in the face of winter, the Anna’s hummingbird is the only BC species that does not migrate. These resilient birds live on our property year round, and forage throughout the winter. These birds are at risk from temperature extremes brought on by climate change, so during cold snaps, we set up warming stations for them to get liquid nectar and have a place to sit outside of the wind.
