Singularity 12, Gerty - 11x14
Singularity 12, Gerty - 11x14
Singularity is a mixed media landscape painting series celebrating astrophysics, black holes and wormholes. A gravitational singularity is a point in space where the gravitational field approaches infinity, pulling in everything including light.
This painting is named to honor Gerty Cori (b. 1896)
Gerty was a Jewish Austro-Hungarian-American biochemist. She was the first American woman to win a Nobel Prize in science, for her role in the discovery of glycogen metabolism, contributing to the treatment of diabetes.
"I believe that in art and science are the glories of the human mind. I see no conflict between them."
-Gerty Cori
About the Painting
This is a one of a kind original painting in resin and metal leaf on cradled birch with 1.5” depth. It measures 11" x 14”. It has been signed and stamped on the back with the artist’s custom aspen leaf stamp.
A former forester and scientist, Kathryn’s Fluid Landscape paintings incorporate her love of trees and the night sky. Kathryn developed her Aura resin technique to paint the visual disturbances from her classic migraines. Kathryn is a third generation female painter, and all the women artists in Kathryn’s family experience classic migraines with aura.
This is a surreal landscape painting finished with metal leaf and resin in Kathryn’s signature fluid landscapes style. The sky was created with a resin pour in her proprietary Aura method. No prints will be made of this series, and the paintings are exclusive and one of a kind.
There is subtle glitter in the resin to give the painting more dimension and make it look like polished stone. Resin art can be cleaned easily with glass cleaner.
This painting is unframed, but hanging hardware is attached and the edges are finished to match (see photos) so you can hang it unframed or add a frame that suits your decor. These are original paintings and may have bubbles or slight distortions in the resin - check the photos and ask if you need clarification. Thank you!
