About the Repurpose Series

About This Piece

These boxes are decorated with strips of Kathryn’s old paint stained aprons, sealed in resin with a sprinkling of gold leaf. Each one is unique, and uses up materials that would otherwise be wasted.

The divided salt box is made using sustainable acacia wood, measuring 4" round by approximately 2.7" high. It has been stamped on the back with the artist's custom wood burning brand, and ships in a black gift box with compostable paper shred. This is the now discontinued Small size divided box. You can compare the box types here.

The salt box has been hand tiled with pieces of aprons and sealed with food safe resin. The box features a tight fitting swivel lid with a magnetic closure. There are two carved compartments inside, suitable for storing different types of salt, spices, desk or vanity items.

Cleaning instructions: Wipe clean with a damp cloth. The flat resin box top can be cleaned with glass cleaner or soap and water. Read more about resin care here. Condition the wood by wiping with olive oil and a soft cloth. Do not immerse in water. Because these pieces are decorated with recycled materials, the resin finish is not as smooth as her other work, and may have bubbles, indentations and bumps. Each piece is functional, unique and has an interesting story.
