About the Repurpose Series

This series was made to celebrate Earth Day, and Kathryn’s first try at mosaic style collage art, repurposing the accumulated paint drips and other art materials from a year in the studio.

About This Piece

These acacia boxes have been decorated with old broken colored pencils, cut into smaller pieces and tiled into designs, then sealed in resin. Each one is unique, and uses up materials that would otherwise be wasted.

It has been stamped on the back with the artist's custom wood burning brand. Because these boxes are decorated with recycled materials, the resin finish is not as smooth as her other work, and has bubbles, indentations and bumps. Each piece is functional, unique and has an interesting story.

This acacia box measures 12 1/2" x 4 1/8" x 3 7/8" and has a hinged lid and four compartments inside, which can hold tea bags, vanity items, desk items, keepsakes or jewelry. This is the now-discontinued Small size tea box. Read about the box sizes and compare photos here.

The painted surface has been finished with durable food safe resin, and is hard and shiny like glass.

Cleaning instructions: Wipe clean with a damp cloth. The flat resin surface can be cleaned with glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. Read more about resin care here. This is a one of a kind handmade art piece and there may be small bubbles, cosmetic indentations or unevenness in the resin.
