Pencil Crayons Acacia and Resin Tray
Pencil Crayons Acacia and Resin Tray
About the Repurpose Series
This series was made to celebrate Earth Day, and Kathryn’s first try at mosaic style collage art, repurposing the accumulated paint drips and other art materials from her first year in the new studio. Read more about the Repurpose series here.
Because these pieces are decorated with recycled materials, the resin finish is not as smooth as her other work, and may have bubbles, indentations and bumps. Each piece is functional, unique and has an interesting story.
About This Piece
The acacia tray measures 15" round by 2" high. It has been stamped on the back with the artist's custom wood burning brand. It has been decorated with old broken colored pencils, cut into smaller pieces and tiled into designs, then sealed in resin. Each one is unique, and uses up materials that would otherwise be wasted.
The tray has been finished with food safe resin, and can be used as a serving tray, however this tray has a bit more texture than some of the other ones due to the pencil crayons, and might work better as a decorative tray.
New: Check out the custom tray covers and beeswax wraps made to fit these trays.
Cleaning instructions: Wipe clean with a damp cloth. The flat resin tray top can be cleaned with glass cleaner or alcohol. Read more about resin care here. The wood can be conditioned with olive oil.
