Winter Sun Series 11 - 16x20
The Winter Sun Series is a mixed media landscape painting series celebrating aspen trees, love and Kathryn’s time as a forester in Alberta. You can read the story of this series here.
A former aspen researcher, Kathryn chose the aspen leaf for her logo as a symbol of community and growth, and made a dedicated series on her favorite species, the aspen tree.
This series incorporates two of Kathryn’s original technique innovations; her Aura magnetic method and the innovative gilding technique she created in her garage to add metal trees to her landscapes.
About this Painting
This piece features a two layered, large central sun in pale blue, with variegated gold and silver trees that are predominantly silver, with flecks of dark and copper leaf to simulate natural bark. The cradled board edges are natural sanded wood and can be left plain, stained or painted at your request. This painting is unframed, but frames are available for an additional cost.
This is an original painting on cradled birch with 2” cradle depth. It measures 16" x 20”. It has been signed and stamped on the back with the artist’s custom aspen leaf stamp. It has been finished with metal leaf and resin in Kathryn’s signature fluid landscapes style. The sky was created with a resin pour in her proprietary Aura magnetic method.
There is subtle glitter in the resin to give the painting more dimension and make it look like polished stone. Resin art can be cleaned easily with glass cleaner. A resin art care card is included.
This painting is unframed, but hanging hardware is attached and the edges are finished to match (see photos) so you can hang it unframed or add a frame that suits your decor. These are original, one of a kind paintings and may have bubbles or slight distortions in the resin - check the photos and ask if you need clarification. Thank you!
